Over the years we have experienced just about every possible problem that could happen with RICS surveys, and their surveyors. So we have grouped together a section here to help you work out what to do if you have experienced problems with a RICS Building Survey, or with the organisation in general.
RICS promotes itself as ‘The mark of property professionalism’. To become a member, you do a building survey degree. You then apply to RICS to become a member. This involves doing your ‘APC’ – (Assessment of professional competence). RICS claim: Becoming a Chartered Surveyor demonstrates not only technical expertise but also adherence to the highest levels of ethics and professional conduct. The Building Surveying pathway is stated to focus on areas like building pathology, construction technology and project management. There are 11 mandatory competencies – NONE of these have anything to do with actually surveying a building.
