Now here’s a chimney for you… there were 4 of these. Beautiful house, but boy did it need work…

Now this was Bodgit Builder Extreme. He actually went to Court for this and was done (he was a Property Care Association member too! ) I’m not sure if the gutter was glued to the tiles, or the tiles to the fascia, or the tiles to the roof – but nothing really worked very well..
And then there was the very well known Grade 2 Listed house by the sea near Redcar. The architect was experimenting with new materials – someone should have told him at the time that iron lintels and sea air didn’t mix. The entire roof of the building was lifted by about an inch and a half. Every window – one in each wall – had neatly lifted the roof – you could see through the building from one side to the other!

And this wins our contest for the RICS Homebuyer survey that said the roof was in good order…
I think he must have been colour blind – no, those grey things are NOT tiles….

He also missed the wonky purlins and cracking rafters underneath the wonky lead tiles. Which were replacing slate on a roof not designed to take concrete tiles… Oh dear.
