Pete recently did an interview on BBC Radio 4 - You and Yours - which investigated a case history of failed cavity wall insulation.
We would love to answer every question from the public - but there simply are not the hours in the day. And we work for a living.. So please - dont just email and expect a learned reply - you'll be directed to these options:
We've split our services into two bits - you can have us visit you, or for an hour online. This is how it works..
If you have a question, or a series of questions - for example, a lot of people need to talk through damp issues they are having, click the link for the virtual consulation. We encourage you to send us photos of your problem as well. We will then contact you to arrange the best time to talk through your problem online, and agree our fee. In many cases this works really well, and it can save you a lot of unneccessary cost on work to your home that isnt the right thing.
If your problem is more complex, we can arrange to visit you for a whole day. Pete has worked this way in the past with people who have a serious damp problem (One client now has a £200,000 legal case against a water utility for damage to their home which their insurance company refused to do anything about).
Often clients are better informed, able to stop using bodgit builder, and can complete their building project using all the right traditional materials, using local craftsmen. We can help find the right people, and write specifications. The level of detail varies considerably and needs to be agreed from the outset.
“Just had the one hour consultation with Pete and it’s probably the best money I’ve ever spent. Pete’s advice and information was clear, matter-of-fact and totally impartial . I now feel confident in moving forward with the sympathetic restoration of my Listed 18th century cottage, armed with a treasure trove of ideas and specifications for materials which will banish the damp for good! It’s probably saved me a fortune too, as I won’t now get ripped off by injection dpc salesmen/dodgy builders with no idea about heritage buildings. Many thanks, Louise.”
