The consultation can cover anything you would like.  Peter (or another member of the team)  undertake full surveys of historic buildings from the cellars to tips of the chimneys - we can guide you through the history of the building - how it has evolved, how it was built, what materials were used and why.  From this, we will devise a plan of action to help restore or maintain the building, coming  up with specifications, materials and helping to find suitable people to do the work.  He will even help supervise..  Sometimes this survey takes the form of a pre-purchase survey, helping you to work out if you can afford to buy the house, and what it will cost to 'do it up'.  We have been known to gently but firmly steer people away from a potential purchase.

Damp issues are a big part of our work.  We have a range of technical equipment that monitors humidity and temperature - measuring moisture content of floors, walls, and the atmosphere in the house.  We diagnose the real source of any dampness, and comes up with solutions.  We use thermal imaging cameras, thermo hygrometers and carbide testing of moisture content in most of our surveys.  As Pete says;   " I need a sherpa to carry my kit with me these days..!"

To make a booking, please fill out the booking form. We will then make contact and discuss your requirements.  costs.  Please also bear in mind that our current workload means a waiting time of around 2 weeks for surveys - although we can sometimes help with urgent requests.  It is always best to email and we will get back to you with an answer as quickly as we can.
